Stevens Towing Company recently completed a job working with GPA Technologies and the US Navy to relocate a floating barrier system at the Kings Bay Naval Base in St Mary’s, GA. The project utilized one deck barge, one crane barge, the tug Island Merchant and members of our heavy lift team. Barrier anchors were pulled and refurbished, new shore-side connections were installed, and several fence sections were removed for long term storage. The fence was towed to its new location and re-attached to the refurbished moorings. Our experienced team then loaded the remaining fence pieces onto the deck barge for transport back to Charleston where they will be picked up and trucked to their final storage location.
